First Friday of February

January flew by!  I'm starting to see signs of longer days as the sun is setting later.  My sewing room has been pretty busy.  I've been staying organized using my Quilters Planner.  Each week has been inspired by the quilt blocks featured in the month of January.  I've completed three so far, but got side tracked by a new project, my first Swoon quilt.

This last block I finished in January was a challenge.  I'm not confident in paper piecing yet, but Cassandra's directions were great.  So if you haven't tried this one yet, dive in.  The end result is worth it!

There are more January blocks in my planner, but who can resist a Swoon-a-long when February is here?  Thimble Blossoms had a special on this pattern recently, and I've always wanted to try it!

I love these super-sized quilt blocks! They are all over instagram if you are interested in seeing these pretty blocks in abundance!

Thank you for spending some time on my blog!

Friday Finish For Mum!

This one took quite a while to finish, but so worth it!

This is Bonnie and Camille's Round and Round pattern that I've used before and just love working on the large blocks.

Fabric is Day Sail from Camille Roskelley........... perfect for a summer quilt!

The back was what took me the longest.  I debated on whether to track down more yardage of Day Sail or to piece the back with what I had left.  I found the little sail boat blocks on pinterest....

I also added more friendship blocks for another border to break up the solid blue.

I recently read a blogger's post that talked about having trouble photographing finished quilts...
My Liam is not concerned... and maybe a bit bored?

This quilt is a gift for the family's Cape House!  Just in time for the 4th of July vacation week!

Linking up with Crazy Mom and NTT....
Thanks for stopping by and an early Happy 4th to all!

Spring is in the air.

After completing the round and round quilt top I had quite a bit of fabric left over from the Day Sail collection.  This block is another round and round featuring the blues and greens from Camille Roskelley's collection.  They are fresh, crisp fabrics that pop when set against a white background.

Since it's school vacation week, we made a trip to a local art supply store for some inspiration.

Thank you for visiting!

Fireworks! (in August)

This is a project I've been wanting to do for a while.  The pattern is Camille Roskelley's titled, Fireworks.  This is a fairly large quilt that is made out of 16 blocks which are mostly pieced out of HSTs.
I chose the fabric from her Day Sail collection which I love!

Here's a close up of some of the fabric.  This might be my favorite block so far.  The mint green and pretty cursive writing is lovely.

These blocks are time consuming, but I do find that chain piecing, pressing the seams open and using lots of starch help to get those points set just right!  This one's a keeper..... just need to decide on a fabric for the back.  There are just too many pretty Day Sail fabrics to choose from.

Thanks for visiting my blog!  Can't believe it's August already....
(I'm linking up with CrazyMom Quilts finish it up Friday.)
