Friday Finish For Mum!

This one took quite a while to finish, but so worth it!

This is Bonnie and Camille's Round and Round pattern that I've used before and just love working on the large blocks.

Fabric is Day Sail from Camille Roskelley........... perfect for a summer quilt!

The back was what took me the longest.  I debated on whether to track down more yardage of Day Sail or to piece the back with what I had left.  I found the little sail boat blocks on pinterest....

I also added more friendship blocks for another border to break up the solid blue.

I recently read a blogger's post that talked about having trouble photographing finished quilts...
My Liam is not concerned... and maybe a bit bored?

This quilt is a gift for the family's Cape House!  Just in time for the 4th of July vacation week!

Linking up with Crazy Mom and NTT....
Thanks for stopping by and an early Happy 4th to all!

Summer Quilt Finish!

This is my first "herringbone quilt".  I loved doing this one because it challenged me to up my quilting skills.

Solid fabrics are less forgiving when striving for matching your points up.  I gave myself some rules to follow for this one.
Slow down....
Square up those HSTs....
Use my pins....
STARCH.... what a difference that makes.

I am thankful for the quilting blogs out there that share helpful hints for fellow quilters.  The little things really do make a difference to create a crisp beautiful quilt that you'll be proud of.
A few of the lovely blogs I read often are:
Cluck Cluck Sew
Film in the Fridge
Red Pepper Quilts
Noodlehead
Freshly Pieced
Crazy Mom Quilts
Oh Fransson
Fresh Lemons

Here's the finished quilt below....

This one is listed in my etsy shop, Pretty in the Port
just in time for the 4th of July!
Happy Summer!
