Summer fireflies

This Friday finish is a baby quilt featuring Sarah Jane's fabric from her line, Wee Wander.

This quilt is inspired by the free pattern from Freshly Handmade.

I recently purchased some new labels from JJ Labels!
Love how they turned out.  You can customize your own labels on her website.  I did try using the website, Spoonflower to create labels, but found their editing tools difficult to use.  Has anyone else experienced this?

As for a Friday start, I've recently joined the Summer Sampler 2016 quilt along!  You can join any time here at Freshly Pieced.
You receive one pdf per week featuring a block from 10 different designers and 7 bloggers.  You can join anytime!
Here are my first two blocks...

Funny how you pick up on mistakes after you take a pic?
Anyone notice this in the block above?
I'm using left over fabric from Miss Kate and Day Sail.
Have a great weekend!

Summer Quilt Finish!

This is my first "herringbone quilt".  I loved doing this one because it challenged me to up my quilting skills.

Solid fabrics are less forgiving when striving for matching your points up.  I gave myself some rules to follow for this one.
Slow down....
Square up those HSTs....
Use my pins....
STARCH.... what a difference that makes.

I am thankful for the quilting blogs out there that share helpful hints for fellow quilters.  The little things really do make a difference to create a crisp beautiful quilt that you'll be proud of.
A few of the lovely blogs I read often are:
Cluck Cluck Sew
Film in the Fridge
Red Pepper Quilts
Noodlehead
Freshly Pieced
Crazy Mom Quilts
Oh Fransson
Fresh Lemons

Here's the finished quilt below....

This one is listed in my etsy shop, Pretty in the Port
just in time for the 4th of July!
Happy Summer!

Swimming with the Mermaids

This baby quilt features Out to Sea fabric by SarahJane from Michael Miller.  The mermaid fabric is called "Mermaid Play".  I simply used a small dish to fussy cut my circles for applique.

Here's a close up of one of my little mermaids chasing the whales.  I've quilted the entire quilt in the Bernina serpentine stitch #4 for a true wavy effect giving it lots of fun texture.

Here's the back corner with my Pretty in the Port tag I purchased on etsy.

And lastly, the back features the same fabric along with a few "port holes" to give a playful look.
This one will be listed in my etsy shop soon.
It measures 35x35 and would be a fun item for any little mermaid's crib!
Thanks for stopping by!
